Carpenter
My Nona bought me a little toddler table and chairs for Christmas and my mom let me have it early. But she made me work for it. I had to build it myself.
Gathering my tools:
Laying out the parts I need:
Reading the instructions:
This is a 2 screwdriver job.
Consulting the directions again and grabbing an Allen key
Such hard work and concentration

aah, the finished product: a chair
Enjoying the table the next morning

Milestones
So I have reached many milestones recently. I am walking really well. I definitely have opinions on things and I am talking a lot
These are my words (that I can remember right now):
Mama
Dada (for Daddy)
E-le-na (my mom thinks this is the cutest thing!)
hi (favorite word)
dye-dye for bye bye
oh oh
wow
no
nona
ba (for ball)
buh (for book)
gaga for Gracias (thank you in Spanish)
Papo for zapatos (shoes in Spanish...I love shoes)
Um when I am hungry
Du-n when I am done eating, playing, etc
qwa-ka for crackers...or really anything like a cracker, like bread, rice cakes, etc
I also have many animal sounds:
baa--for sheep and goats
hahaha (panting) for dog
snorting for pig
quack for duck
arf arf...coupled with clapping for sea lions
oo-oo for monkeys
fish kiss sounds for fish
bzzz for a bee
elephant sound coupled with trunk motion
I understand a lot more than I can speak. I am also very free with hugs and kisses. And I am constantly smiling.
And lastly this week, I have discovered that my finger fits perfectly in my nostrils, so I store my finger there frequently. My parents are very proud.
But so that is not your last (mental) image of me, here are some photos taken since my birthday party:
Taking a bath in a sink:

Building the Taj Mahal
Showing off the t-shirt that Tio Tom and Tia Kristen sent me from Spain
Just cute:
I really love those red blocks
Get me out of here
Oh, that's better. hey mom, leaves and dirt are delicious
Kissing and hugging good friend Daniela
Reading the paper.
Happily walking
Practicing with mom
More cute:
Cuteness abounds
Here mom, take this elephant
Playing with 2 cans of Mandarin oranges with dad's good friend Matt Nerney

Standing and walking
I know I still owe a birthday update, but mom has been really busy lately and I have been uncooperative. I refuse to go to bed before 9:30 or 10:00 which does not give mom a lot of time in the evenings to update my blog.
But I do want to share something. I am now a walker! i started really walking at Daycare yesterday. So we practiced a lot yesterday when I got home. But my mom is new at this parenting thing and forgot to videotape it until I was tired and not doing so well. but here you have it

Swimming at the pool
While in Miami, I went swimming at the pool for the first time. We got to go to mom's old hangout....Winston Park Clubhouse. She lived at this pool when she was 12-14 years old. Her and her friends were sooo cool.
We started out at the pool steps on the first day. we didn't have our swimsuits so we just played there for about 15 minutes
We went back a few days later, with the proper attire. I started out in the Baby pool to ease my way into it

I loved it!
After swimming in the baby pool, I played with the grass with gram. There was lots of interesting stuff at Winston Park Clubhouse!
Several days later, we went back to the pool. I got to swim in the big pool with my cousins. Notice Sofia and I have matching swimsuits. We are so cute
My mom keeps saying that she is going to sign me up for swimming lessons, but it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully it will soon!

Swinging in Miami
My mom is finally going to start the Miami entries. We were there almost a month ago . She is soo slow!
When I was in Miami, I had lots of time to swing around with my cousins.
They are so lucky, not only do they have a swing in their backyard:
But they had a park with swings real near by. Here I am swinging and playing with primo sebastian. I love him a lot.
Lucas and Sofia also got in on the swinging action

Here are a few videos of Lucas and me swinging and of also running

My weekend adventures
I had an exciting weekend. I went on my first hike (since I was 2.5 weeks old...but that doesn't really count because I wasn't aware of my surroundings). We went to Alum Rock Park which is very close to our house. I was in the backpack carrier for the first time! I loved it:
The hike exhausted me. dad told mom and I that it was a 2 mile hike, but we went on a different trail and I think it was much longer
And on Sunday, we went to the park. I got to go on the swing. I loved it as the video below shows. One unfortunate thing happened this weekend. Saturday night I threw up for the first time. And I did it three times! My mom had to change my and her pajamas 2 times. We also had to change the sheets on the bed and wash the pillows on my parents' bed. Daycare has been disastrous to my health. No fever though and I have been a relatively good mood all Sunday, so maybe it was a little bug that has now passed. At least that is my parents' hope. Being sick isn't so bad. They let me sleep in bed with them. I may try this out many more times.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Solids!!!
I had solids for the first time tonight. It was rice cereal. I loved it!

Mom and dad videotaped the whole thing. If my mom would get her act together and buy the cable to download videos from the video camera to her computer, you would get to see a really cute video with sound. Instead you get to see a short video, with no sound, her her still camera. The video shows how lazy my parents are. They make me move my entire body to the spoon instead of bringing the spoon to me. Solids are yummy
